The Queen City of New York State

Description

This is Buffalo's heart and soul that keeps the Western New York area on the map. Founded in 1789 as a trading post for settlers and natives along the eastern coast of Lake Erie, it remained a small settlement until 1825, when the Erie Canal was finished, and Buffalo became it's western terminus. Many events happened here that changed the course of history for the nation and the world, including the assassination of William McKinley and the inaugural address of Theodore Roosevelt. The city is home to a major league football team (The Buffalo Bills), a major league hockey team (The Buffalo Sabres), a minor league baseball team (The Buffalo Bisons), and a lacrosse team (The Buffalo Bandits). This city is home to the UB Bulls, the Buffalo State Bengals, and many other collegiate sports teams. While the city has been the site of a presidential assassination, it also gave rise to another American president, Millard Fillmore. Grover Cleveland, the only president to serve two terms split apart by another president, also spent a large chunk of his adult life residing in Buffalo. The city was once a huge city for steel production, with sites like the once present Bethlehem Steel feeding America's demand for the metal (Bethlehem Steel was burned down in November 2016 by an arson who has yet to be caught). This is a brief synopses of the city's history, I hope it was informative!

Yes, the last few decades have not been the kindest to Buffalo, its population is now less than half what it was in 1950.
